Margaret Enright – President HRA & HA

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (MaitlandMinister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—Congratulations to 2025 Maitland Local Woman of the Year finalist Margaret Enright. Margaret was recognised for her outstanding service to the Hunter River Agricultural & Horticultural Association over the past 40 years. Her dedication, integrity, and tireless energy have made an indelible impact on the Association and the wider Maitland community. Margaret has served as a director since 1991, and in 2018, she made history as the first female President in the Association’s 184-year history—a role she continues to hold. She has also coordinated the Maitland Young Woman Award for 14 years, securing judges and sponsors, organising the gala dinner, and supporting entrants throughout their journey. Her mentorship has helped young women become incredible ambassadors, with three former participants now serving on the Board. At showtime, Margaret ensures the smooth running of the Members Room, preparing meals for 180 special guests, judges, and volunteers daily. She personally delivers morning tea across the showground, always leading by example. Her commitment extends beyond the Show, as she plays an active role in the Maitland Community Markets and the upkeep of the Showground. Margaret’s knowledge, passion, and generosity are unparalleled. I congratulate Margaret for her extraordinary contribution to our community.
