CLASSES 7201 – 7212

 Exhibits must be presented for judging in a standard 500g/375ml round glass jar

with a white 63mm plastic or metal lid. (Not tamper proof)

LIQUID HONEY

                       7201 – LIQUID HONEY – Light Colour

7202 – LIQUID HONEY – Medium Colour

7203 – LIQUID HONEY – Dark Colour

7204 – FLOWFRAME HONEY – Honey extracted from a flow frame

NATURAL GRANULAIN AND CREAMED HONEY

7205 – Natural Granulation Honey

7206 – Creamed Honey

CHUNK HONEY

7207 – Liquid Chunk Honey- liquid honey containing a piece of comb honey of the

same source (measuring at least 40mm by 110mm)

NATIVE BEE HONEY

7208 – Liquid honey extracted from a native bee hive. Exhibits must be in the 50g round jar with white lid supplied –

contact Heather Wightman 0429989580 to collect your jar. Jars should be filled to the collar of the jar and honey strained prior to filling.

Judging criteria definitions:

Flavour – the initial taste, secondary taste, and any lingering mouthfeel.

Aroma – the scent imparted immediately and soon after opening the jar.

Smells of mould and fermentation are undesirable.

Clarity – a measure of contamination from, but not limited to, pollen, dirt, tree bark or propolis.

Density – moisture content, measured by a refractometer.

Brightness – a measure of visible bubbles before opening the jar.

NATURAL BEESWAX

7209 – Beeswax Block – weight requirement. 500g to 1kg block. Shape to be square, round, or rectangular

7210 – Moulded Candle – made from natural beeswax. Candles will be burnt for 1 hour

YOUTH CLASSES (12 years and under)

7211 – Rolled Candle – made from bee wax foundation sheet. Candles will be burnt for 1hr.

7212 – Solitary Bee Hotel – designed for solitary bees
